Friday Jambalaya: Star Trek, Chinese Mythology, Swashbucklers and a Necrodancer

There should, in general, be more necrodancers in fantasy...

Another week and with Valentine’s Day this weekend, we offer you links entirely devoid of Valentinesy things. Here’s what we’ve been looking at this week:

  1. Bad news first: Hayley Atwell is set to star in a new ABC pilot, which bodes ill for Agent Carter getting a third season.
  2. Other TV news, Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal) signed on as show runner for the new Star Trek series coming to CBS next year. And he’s got some great casting ideas.
  3. Do you dance? Do hang out in graveyards? Do you battle skeleton minions? Or would you if you could? Crypt of the Necrodancer came out on PS4 and Vita. And we’ll recover Hanna from that particular rabbit hole soon. We hope.
  4. Hidden in the un-diverse Oscar nominations, we get Hindu gods and super heroes.
  5. This is lovely and so is Keanu Reeves.
  6. Enchanting nightmare fuel and a meditation on age, generations, art and amusement parks.
  7. Science!
  8. A nifty challenge to read more short science fiction and fantasy.
  9. A comic featuring an elderly queer Japanese-Canadian protagonist? Yes. Yes, please.
  10. In our February Kickstarter Board Game Round Up, Jae squeed over the Second Edition of 7th Sea — which is funded! And beautiful! Swashbucklers, we’re home!
